When you think about Birkenstocks, you probably envision the iconic double-strap buckle sandals that pop up everywhere each time summer rolls around. That timeless style — the Birkenstock Arizona sandal — is by far the brand's most popular pick, but there's a different version that deserves just as much buzz.
With the brand's classic cork footbed, the Birkenstock Gizeh sandal offers the comfort you expect from Birkenstock shoes, but with a single buckle strap and thong design, the style is much more secure on your foot than the fan-favorite slides. Although you can still conveniently slip them on and go, the thong feature on the Gizeh sandal offers extra stability when you're on the move.
And right now, plenty of Gizeh sandals (plus more than 150 other pairs of Birkenstock shoes) are on sale at discount retailer Rue La La, but only for 48 more hours. Find the best deals on Birkenstock sandals — both underrated and popular — below.

You know that feeling when your two favorite musicians collaborate (mine would be Taylor Swift and Phoebe Bridgers) and worlds collide in a wonderful, tangible way? Or when That’s So Sweet Life of Hannah Montana aired on Disney Channel? The palpable excitement behind these partnerships is how I feel about the new Birkenstock X STAUD collection. Both brands have loyal consumers that rave about their fashionable and functional pieces—put the two together and you have a winning combination.
It's official: The time to prep your fun-in-the-sun outfits is here. Summer is days away, and you're probably planning your vacations and staycations as I type this. And if you’re like me, that means making sure you have some comfortable sandals in your closet to pair with your nap dresses and trendy grandma coastal pants, a la Meghan Markle. The internet, is, of course, teeming with options, but Anne Hathaway has convinced me that Birkenstocks are what I absolutely need. Sure, they're a "love 'em or hate 'em" type of shoe, but those who do really love Birks swear by them for life.
As People reports, the actress and former Princess of Genovia was recently spotted in a pair of Birkenstock Arizona Birko-Flor sandals ($110) while on the set of one of her upcoming films, Mother's Instinct. And though there’s a chance that the shoes were already on the wardrobe list for the film, a fashion statement was made nonetheless. And we're totally here for it.
Birks, which have literally been around since the 1700s, have become synonymous with comfort, thanks to the supportive cork and latex footbed. It's highly flexible and molds to the shape of your foot to give you the perfect Goldilocks fit with time. You can also expect less pressure on your joints wearing these—something that not all sandals can tout. The shoes have an EVA outsole and light shock absorption to help reduce stress on your feet. Plus, the buckles adjust to help provide a snug fit, so you don’t have to worry about your foot sliding out as you hit the pavement.
And lastly, they're notoriously durable. Our senior commerce editor has owned hers for seven years, and they're in "impeccable shape," she says, adding, "much to the chagrin of my husband, who calls them the Ugg of sandals, but I don't care, I love them."
One five-star reviewer notes that her Arizona Birko-Flor shoes have remained in peak condition over the course of three years. "I love my Birkenstocks," they commented at the time they left the review in 2019. "I wear them almost every day from the start of summer 'til I can't anymore. And sometimes with socks. (Mountain and desert life.) They are so comfortable, easy to slip on and off and pretty much go with everything. I got them in April of 2016 and they are still in great condition, although I think I'm wearing out the footbed a little too much."
And while Birkenstock sandals typically have a slight break-in period, paradise for your feet is other other side, says another Zappos shopper. FYI, not everyone finds them comfortable, so make sure you take advantage of the retailer's return policy if they don't make your feet happy after a couple weeks.
"Love these!" they wrote. "There's definitely a break-in period, but once that's over, you'll never want to take them off. I wore mine for about an hour or less a day for a week or so. After that, all good! I normally wear a medium width in all my other shoes and the narrow width in these was perfect."
Basically? Hathaway knows what she's talking about.

..........Read full articleThe Dior Birkenstocks first struck ground in the depths of winter, with models’ stockinged feet tucked into nubby felted clogs and sandals as they traversed a Paris runway. But it is now, in the not-quite dead heat of summer, that they have at last arrived, ready to roam the world over.
All that’s to say—the much-anticipated Dior x Birkenstock collab, officially known as Dior by Birkenstock, is finally here.
The House of Dior released its variations on two pairs—the Tokio back-strapped mule and the Milano back-strapped sandal—for sale on their website this morning, with both styles coming in at a cool $1,100 each. The sandals come in two colorways, black nubuck leather and “Dior gray” felted wool; same goes for the mules, which also come with an additional option of “greige” nubuck. They each feature Dior’s hallmark rollercoaster buckle (a motif that 1017 ALYX 9SM founder Matthew Williams brought to the brand a few years back) and embossed soles featuring a mash-up of Dior Oblique motif with Birkenstock’s signature bone-patterned tread.
As of press time, the collaboration—which Dior says “pays an ever-subtle tribute to Monsieur Dior’s passion for gardening by combining functionality and elegance” (chic)—is already nearly sold out on the brand’s website, though you should be able to pick up a pair at your local Dior maison. And now the Diorkenstocks shall undoubtedly cross into uncharted territory where the map ends, otherwise known as…the secondary resale market. We can only hope they will meet up with the puffy skate shoes from Dior’s other waviest collab of the year, with ERL’s Eli Russell Linnetz, along the way. In the meantime, best of luck!
..........Read full articleAfter unveiling the collaboration at the start of the year, Dior (PARIS:CDI.PA +0.19%) has now officially released its capsule with Birkenstock. The collection features two signature silhouettes — the Tokio Mule and Milano Sandal — and takes inspiration from Christian Dior’s love of gardening.
Celebrating this influence, the two silhouettes mix functionality and elegance in tribute to the couturier. The mule and sandal also arrive in a variety of finishes, including black nubuck calfskin, grey felted wool and, for the Tokio Mule, a “Greige” nubuck calfskin.
Alongside the Birkenstock collaboration, Dior has also released its new CD 1947 capsule. This collection is based on a dialogue between Kim Jones and the legacy of Christian Dior, with this relationship exemplified by a new “Christian Dior” signature combined with “1947” in honor of the first Dior show.
Both the CD 1947 collection and the full Birkenstock collaboration are available now via the Dior web store.
In other footwear news, Dr. Martens recently partnered with Blondey McCoy to spotlight the Adrian loafer.

The German shoe brand reached new heights in 2020 when its sandals and clogs became the unsung heroes of lockdown, with everyone from Reese Witherspoon to the Beckhams donning theirs on countless occasions. And its popularity is showing no signs of waning.
This may just explain why Manolo Blahnik became the latestfashion house to join Birkenstock’s luxury roster, following in the footsteps of Dior, Jil Sander and Valentino.
It’s the Spanish designer’s expertise in footwear that makes this one particularly exciting. Pivoting from its signature heels, Blahnik has fused high fashion and creative design with quality and function, leaving us with the most glamorous Birkenstock capsule collection we thought we’d seen to date. That was until its latest collaboration was announced.
The new Rodra sandal in polka dot
Whether you prefer the Arizonas, or, like Blahnik, you’re partial to the Bostons, they’ve seen another serious update: think plush suede in a black and white polka dot finish or Blahnik’s signature PVC material, a mainstay in his collections since the Seventies. And this time, there’s a new sandal silhouette thrown into the mix: the Rodra. Boasting a similar design to the Arizonas but with a cross-strap style, it’s opulence designed for the poolside.

Compared to the first collection’s rich blue and fuchsia velvet or classic black leather with jewelled embellishments, the second drop is markedly more minimalist and understated.
If this sounds like something you cannot wait to get your hands on, read on for everything there is to know about the latest collaboration.
Combining Blahnik’s signature design with the comfort of Birkenstocks, the four-strong capsule collection includes a brand new take on the cult-favourite Boston clogs, now reimagined in a luxurious and gaudy (in all the right ways) black and white polka dot design. The bold design embodies Blahnik’s signature style.
The Arizona sandal is also back, either crafted in a black or white finished PVC. This cool, transparent style is reminiscent of Blahnik’s instantly recognisable 1970’s designs.
And for the collaboration’s latest drop, a brand new style has been added to the line up. The Rodra sandal comes in the same playful black and white polka dot print, with the wide cross straps adding an elegant touch.
As you’d expect from the designer, the shoes feature eye-catching and glamorous details and will cost between £495 and £560. The hard bit is to choose whether to go for the reimagined PVC Arizona, the Boston or the new Rodra, not to mention which print and design. But whichever one you choose, they’ll arrive in a polka dot shoebox and dust bag, staying true to Manolo Blahnik’s standard styling.
Luckily there’s not got long to wait as the new line is set to drop on 23 June. But with the first launch being an instant sellout success, you’ll want to be quick investing in a pair for yourself.
To make sure you stay in the know, we’d recommend signing up to receive email notifications directly from the Manolo Blahnik website.

So when we saw Anne Hathaway walking around on the set of Mother's Instinct last week showcasing a minimalist (and easily achievable!) outfit that was on-trend, flattering, and comfortable, our interest instantly piqued.
The 39-year-old actress was photographed in New Jersey sporting sunglasses, a wig (which is likely part of her costume for the film) and a black pair of Birkenstock Arizona Birko-Flor sandals.
Ah the Birkenstock sandal — love it or hate it, the shoe has proven that it's here to stay. And thanks to a newly-debuted collaboration between Birkenstock and the internet's favorite fashion brand, Staud, the sandal just got a seriously chic makeover for summer that will have you buying every pair.
As announced last Friday, Birkenstock has teamed with Staud for a limited-edition capsule collection that features everything from handbags and ready-to-wear pieces to an elevated, croc-embossed version of the staple sandal that's been loved by shoppers for nearly 250 years.
